Look Who's in the Room!
Acts 1:13-14 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. The Holy Spirit has not yet been given to the church (that comes next in Chapter two), but something dramatic is happening here. At the temple the men and women did not worship and pray together--ever. The court of the women was far from the center, lest they bring defilement.
And yet, already, something is changing. The disciples are there, along with Jesus' brothers, and others (about 120 in all). But look who else is there! WOMEN! This is a breach of custom that is really quite astounding. Right from the beginning they prayed together, and when the Holy Spirit was given, it was given to everyone in that upper room.
Thanks be to God!

Acts it is :)
There's about a month's worth of readings (a chapter a day) and it would be good if people would post / comment odd thoughts as we progress.I'll start Acts on Wednesday this week - aiming to finish by mid July. (or there abouts)
I felt I rushed Acts in the 90 days, so it'll be good to check some references here - the historical book formes the backbone to the Epistles and I find it exciting to see how God worked time and time again.
That said I'm reading a GREAT book right now called Second Guessing God (Brian Jones) who reminds us that there were actually quite few miracles even then, so we shouldn't be discouraged if miracles seem few and far apart in our regular lives. I liked that thought.
be blessed
